My Future Yatch

When I am finished school and move to the states I would like to get a 82 ft Viking yacht. The biggest reason that this is the boat I want to get is because it suits both fishing and comparability. The 82 is built perfect with a deck space of 20 ft across and 20 ft long, with a indoor bridge that has AC and all the electronics needed to travel the world. Inside the cabin there are four bedrooms and four bathrooms with a huge living room with a 72 inch flat screen TV. Each room in the boat has its own flat screen TV and AC unit for extra coldness. the 82 ft viking is an awesome boat because even in very rough weather if your going with the waves or against the waves you still don't get beat up or wet. the engine room is the best part of any boat because the engines or what make the boat come alive. This boat is set up with twin 892 Detroits diesels one of the best performing engines made, the fuel consumption is very low for the amount of power that the engines put out. At wide open throttle the boat hits 35 knots which is about 43 mph.

Conch Season

The best part of the month is Christmas time because Conch season and Lobster season are open.  Every year since I was five I was out every Conch season catching tuns of Conch with my dad of east end. This year I have both of my boat working so every weekend I will be out on the water catch anything that I can catch. Back in the old days when Cayman was just growing anywhere you went for a snorkel you would run into huge school's of Conch and Lobster. As Cayman started to grow more people started poaching more Conch and Lobster's. That's why every Conch and Lobster season is so special to people in Cayman  because everyone eat them or sells them to make money and for this the numbers of Conchs and Lobsters are starting to die out quick. The law on Conch and Lobsters about twenty years ago was unlimited amount of Conch and Lobsters that you can catch, now it is five Conch per person and ten Conch per boat, for Lobsters it is three Lobsters per person and six Lobsters per boat.

Half term break

Over the half term break I went to Miami to visit my brother. Where my brother live is called Pembroke pines it is very peaceful, clean and generally a nice place to be, it is just south of Miami. The day that I got to Miami my brother and I went fishing so when drove down the high looking for a pond to fish in. We turned down a road that had a long canal off water going down the side of the road. There was people across the canal that where fishing,so i knew that there had to be something here that we could catch so i looked in the tackle bow and got the best lure. It was my first cast and I was pulling it in slow hoping for a bite. As the lure was about to jump out of the water a nice size fish came up out of nowhere and grabbed the line and took of. I was shocked cause it all happen so fast but i just started reeling and he was taking plenty line. When he got closed to the edge I gave the rod to my brother then grabbed the line and flung the fish in the grass and took the hook out. I was so happy because I have been waiting for a long time to catch one of these fish and it was defiantly rare that you catch this type of fish, and it was called a peacock bass.I wanted to eat him but we only had caught one so we let him go.

My Near Death Experience

Every once in a while my friends and I like to go tubing behind my small boat with a very big engine. Where I live there is a ocean like pond called Duck Pond which is right at the top of my canal. M
y dads friend that live in Texas leaves his boat at my dock and he has a tube that can hold 3 people and fly out of the water. My boat is kinda small but it has a big engine on the back so it goes pretty fast it has a total speed of 70 mph. We got the boat ready and two of my friends jumped on the tube and we headed out, we got to the top of the canal and it was kinda windy so we all knew that the tube would probably fly out the water. Later on that day we all found out that we were right about the tube flying, just my friend was on the tube and he wanted to go through snake trail which was a small cut between two big Mangrove bushes. We took the first turn and everything went fine but when we took the next turn the tube took flight and went upside down and my friend was still holding on, and a couple seconds later my friend was about ten feet in the bush and had suck about three in the depths of the Mangrove. It took us about ten minutes just to find him and about twenty to get him out. We got him out eventually and his back was covered in blood and deep scrapes. We knew what was going to happen but like always we don't care until it happens.

my weekend on the water

My weekend on the water

Last week Friday school was out so a couple of my friends and I went fishing. I woke up at 3:00am and got the boat ready then we headed out, we wanted to get to 12 mile bank before the sun came up but we didn't make it. We got to the bank at 7:30am we already had are lines out and we where trolling along the edge of the bank trying to catch a Wahoo but we didn't catch anything. After a while of trolling around we finally found some birds and they were diving so we headed straight for them, there was flying fish flying and Mahi Mahi jumping. All of a sudden two rods went off and we where hooked up on two nice size Mahi Mahi. After about ten minutes we finally got the fish in the boat. We got tired of trolling so we stop the boat and made some deep drops, I was jigging for bottom fish and my rod went off and it was something big. I was fighting this fish for a pretty long time and I was starting to get kinda tired but I new I couldn't stop so I kept reeling. Finally i got the fish to the boat and it was a twenty pound grouper and it was worth the fight. Everyone on the boat was happy so put out the big lures and headed home.

fishing on the weekend

This weekend the weather looked kinda rough so me and my friends thought we should go fishing the only boat we had was my small boat which was a 14 foot wahoo kinda like a boston wayler.Which I did't really think was safe to go out side the reef with but my friends never really said to me about it being to rough so we went anyway. We had to stop at Harbor House for bait before we went headed to Harbor House as we got the we where already pretty beat up from all the waves but i got the bait anyway. We finally made it out the reef and got are lines in the water and where headed straight out of site of land. We where just cruising and the back of the boat was still going under the water from when we left the dock, i was looking in the sky and i say a bird and as i looked at him i saw him dive. He was directly above us and the rod went off, my friend grabbed the rod and started reeling. I could see the fish jumping behind the boat so we new it was a mahi. When he got close to the boat i grabbed the line and flung him in the boat it was getting kind of breezy so we decided to head in. When pulled into my canal we ran out of gas so i swam the boat in. We couldn't say that we had a bad day of fishing because we caught something rather than nothing.

my job on the water

Have you ever thought about how cool it is to have a job that all you do is catch fish and get paid a good amount of money for it.Well I do and over the summer that's how I make money. Working on a charter fishing boat is pretty awesome,I wake up at 5;00AM every morning to get the boat ready and then we head out. We usually pick the people up at Caymana Bay but sometimes we pick them up at kiabo. Most people that we take out have never caught a fish before but it very rare that we don't catch fish when we go out fishing. Sting Ray City is the most common place to go when you visit Cayman Islands there is no better place in the world to swim with such clear blue water and beautiful animals.
