Over the Christmas break it was very rough but that didn't stop my friends and I from going fishing. When I say fishing I mean deep sea fishing so we weren't inside the reef if anything went wrong. It was the day before Christmas and my friends and I loaded up the boat and headed out. We knew what to expect when we got across booby key and we where willing to take a good beating. We got to the reef faster than we expected and first thing we did was put out our lines, everything was going smooth then out of nowhere there was two birds on the water top diving. Between the four of us on the boat not one of us looked back to see how far we where from land, we where to into the birds because they where chasing fish so we didn't stop until about 12 miles offshore. By time we went to turn around to head in we couldn't even see land so we had to follow are bubbles. We saw the fish but we just couldn't get them to bite, but that wasn't the only problem. We only had one gallon of gas left and all this time we didn't even check to see how much we had left. We pulled up the lines and ran in fast,it only took us about 30 minutes to get in and when we got to the reef we agreed to troll for a barracuda, about ten minutes into trolling we where hooked up and it was a big fish. After we caught the first fish we where exited so we kept trolling but before we could get both rods out one went off and it wasn't a barracuda. This fish was fighting hard and it was big and red, after a while of fighting him we finally got to see what it was.The time came to pull the fish in the boat and it was a 7 pound mutton snapper. We where all happy so we headed to the dock to clean the boat and clean our catch. Wednesday, January 11, 2017
